This renovation project involved the adaptation of the old Henraux marble sawmill. The blocks of marble, a material with infinite natural variations, would enter the small building in the Apuane Alps and come out reshaped and transformed. The Henraux company is occupied with design on various fronts, from architecture, to product design under its Luce di Carrara name, to art, three areas in which marble plays a fundamental role. The redesign of the interior has transformed the old industrial volume into a cultural space and company showroom.
The project rotates around the large double-height space used as a showroom, delimited by a staircase that leads to the upper level. Although the design of the interior renovation is flexible, it was based on maintaining a few fixed points, such as respecting the features of the old sawmill and maintaining its vertical configuration, in this way offering visitors numerous different points of view.
