The project regards a building for public management, designed as a Headquarters for the Tuscan Region. The architectural complex develops on 6 floors with a total surface area of 68,108 sq.m The project rejects the hypothesis of a single building and instead develops on an urban scale, resulting in a sort of city block formed by 7 building elements, linked by a functional basement in turn placed upon a slab where 2 levels of car parks are located. The project, consequently, represents the design of a portion of city, where the spaces appear sealed among the buildings, or inside private courtyards, while the rapport between the building and public road remains contiguous according to the example of consolidated urban structures. The ground floor of the complex is a large space linking the elements overlooking it, occupied by conference halls, an auditorium, a library, a canteen, nursery, gymnasium and in general all the common services that can be directly accessed by the public. Two large tree-lined courtyards are lit up. The entrance to the building may be accessed on foot both via the basement on the south-west and south-east sides, and via the raised square, through openings on the individual building elements. The various buildings, clad in large stone slabs of various hues, are characterised by pitched roofs clad in the same material.
